Laboratory Assistant - Production - Float

Canadian Blood Services is looking for two Regular full-time Laboratory Assistant - Floats to join our dynamic Production team in BC - Vancouver .

The Production team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by manufacturing, releasing and distributing blood products, including the processing of whole blood collections to the final products. In this role, you will be working on the frontlines, assisting in the production of blood components that provide life-saving treatments for Canadians by providing technical assistance and maintaining the laboratory, all laboratory equipment and test instruments.

Drawing on your laboratory experience, you will be receiving, assessing and producing whole blood, apheresis platelets and plasma into requested blood components.

Utilizing your knowledge and understanding of blood component production, you will be assisting the laboratory manager in the development and evaluation of procedures.

Using your excellent organizational skills, you will be involved in the maintenance of appropriate documentation and records related to inventory in compliance with Canadian Blood Services operational procedures and work instructions.

Applying your ability to be proactive and ensure excellence, you will be performing routine maintenance of equipment and work areas to ensure safety and quality of blood products.

Works a rotational schedule. Start and stop times: 06:00 to 14:00, 14:00 to 22:00, 22:00 to 06:00. Rest days: Sunday/Monday or Monday/Tuesday or Tuesday/Wednesday or Wednesday/Thursday or Thursday/Friday or Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday.

Floats cover shifts for vacation, stats, special leave and sick calls.

Physical requirements - ability to lift weight up to 10 kg (22 lbs.).
