Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Junior / Assistant Geo-Environmental Consultant for its Contaminated Land and Hydrogeology team.

The role supports brownfield solutions for infrastructure projects across transportation, energy, buildings and places, and water markets.

The position can be based in Exeter, Bristol, Birmingham, Cambridge, Epsom, or London with flexible hybrid working.

Your Role

  • Organise, collate, and assess desk-based information for Phase 1 contaminated land desk studies.
  • Assist with Phase 2 site investigations, including organising, supervising, and undertaking investigation and monitoring scopes.
  • Perform contractor supervision, soil sampling and logging, and environmental monitoring on site.
  • Follow health and safety policies, assist with site investigation plans, and manage on-site safety.
  • Contribute to factual and interpretative reports, digital data management, conceptual site models, risk assessments, hydrogeological modelling, and environmental impact assessments.
  • Support remediation design, implementation, and verification.
  • Manage personal work and support project managers with delivery to time, budget, quality, and client expectations.
  • Develop competence and maintain continuing professional development.

About You

  • Relevant degree in engineering, geology, geography, hydrogeology, chemistry, earth sciences, or environmental science.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body.
  • Understanding of land contamination and brownfield land issues, codes of practice, and industry standards.
  • Good organisational skills and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Collaborative attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Willingness to travel and undertake site-based work across the UK.
  • Relevant postgraduate consultancy experience is welcomed.
  • Experience on active gas and electricity infrastructure sites is required.
  • Specialist skills in hydrogeological modelling, EIA, environmental permitting, or waste and materials management are welcomed.
  • Experience using GIS software such as QGIS or ArcGIS.

  • Site work may include travel across the UK and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
