Role Description
The Joinery Draftsman is a full-time, on-site role based in Doha, Qatar.
This role is responsible for preparing detailed shop drawings and technical plans for custom joinery, including furniture, cabinetry, wall paneling, and interior fit-out elements.
Day-to-day tasks include interpreting design concepts, reviewing architectural and interior design drawings, coordinating with designers, engineers, and production teams, and ensuring that all drawings meet project specifications, materials standards, and local regulations.
The Joinery Draftsman will update drawings based on feedback, maintain drawing records, support the production team with clear documentation, and assist in resolving technical issues during fabrication and installation.
The role also involves collaborating closely with project managers to meet deadlines and support high-quality delivery for luxury residential and commercial projects.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in technical drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD, 2D/3D CAD tools) and ability to produce accurate shop drawings for joinery and furniture.
- Practical knowledge of joinery construction methods, materials (solid wood, veneers, MDF, hardware), and finishes used in high-end interiors.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, interior design, and MEP drawings, and translate them into detailed joinery plans.
- Experience coordinating with design, production, and site teams to clarify requirements, resolve technical issues, and ensure feasibility of designs.
- Strong attention to detail, spatial awareness, and problem-solving skills for complex custom joinery solutions.
- Effective communication skills in English, with the ability to document and present technical information clearly.
- Relevant technical diploma or degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Civil Engineering, or a related field; specialized training in joinery drafting is an advantage.
- Previous experience as a Joinery Draftsman or in a similar role within furniture manufacturing, fit-out, or interior design, preferably in a luxury or high-end environment.
- Ability to work on-site in Doha, Qatar, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
