The Information Technology (IT) Project Manager helps plan and oversee technical projects like software rollouts, cloud migrations, network upgrades from start to finish, implementation of technology hardware and third-party vendor technology systems.

This position reports directly to the Director of Network Systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, business, or a related field. 5 years of IT related project management will be considered in Lieu of a degree.
  • 10 years of hands-on project coordination or IT experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership, risk mitigation, and proficiency with project management tools.

Essential and Duties and Responsibilities

  • Define project scope, goals, detailed timelines and costs.
  • Assign tasks and coordinate internal teams, contractors, third-party vendors and budgets.
  • Monitor and track progress against milestones and adjust plans for unforeseen delays.
  • Provide detailed reporting to Direct of Network Systems and Vice President for Finance and Administration on Progress of department projects.
  • Identify potential technical or financial roadblocks and execute contingency plans.
  • Serve as the main bridge between non-technical business stakeholders and technical staff.
  • Actively respond to IT support tickets as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director IT Network Systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of project management principles, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, networking, cloud services, and cybersecurity.
  • Knowledge of technology implementation and vendor management practices.
  • Strong project planning, organization, and time management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with project management tools, Microsoft 365 applications, and ticketing systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple technology projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to identify risks and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, vendors, and leadership.
  • Ability to prepare and present project updates and reports.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining accountability and confidentiality.

Work Environment And Physical Requirements

  • The work environment includes offices, classrooms, computer labs, telecommunications rooms, data closets, construction areas, and other campus facilities. The position requires frequent interaction with faculty, staff, students, vendors, and contractors while supporting technology services and infrastructure.
  • Work may involve exposure to dust, noise, heat, cold, and varying environmental conditions when working in equipment rooms, ceiling spaces, outdoor locations, or construction areas. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to accommodate system maintenance, upgrades, special events, or emergency support needs.
  • Regularly lift, carry, push, and pull equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb while performing assigned duties.
  • Climb ladders and safely operate personnel lifts at heights of up to 25-30 feet.
  • Work above ceilings, below raised flooring, and in confined spaces when installing or maintaining technology infrastructure.
  • Perform repetitive motions involving computer equipment, tools, and handheld devices.
  • Distinguish colors and identify cables, wiring, and status indicators on network and communications equipment.
  • Travel between campuses and transport equipment as needed.
  • Maintain the physical capability to safely perform all essential functions of the position.
