- Check and sequence accurate ICD 10/CPT/HCPCS/DRG codes for diagnoses and procedures
- Abstract necessary information from health records to identify secondary complications and co morbid conditions
- Evaluate records for documentation consistency and adequacy
- Provide training and guidance to other coders on coding rules and regulations
- Analyze physician documentation to assign appropriate E&M levels using correct CPT codes
- Ensure coding compliance with HAAD guidelines and regulations
- Provide feedback to physicians regarding coding errors or oversights

Key Responsibilities
- Check and sequence accurate ICD 9/ICD 10 CM/CPT/HCPCS/DRG codes for diagnoses and procedures
- Abstract all necessary information from health records to identify secondary complications and co morbid conditions
- Evaluate record for documentation consistency and adequacy; ensure final diagnosis accurately reflects care and treatment
- Provide training and guidance to other coders/Medical Records Technicians in coding
- Analyze doctors’ documentation to assure appropriate E&M levels are assigned using correct CPT code
- Ensure coding is as per HAAD guidelines and regulations
- Provide feedback to doctors regarding coding errors or oversights
- Constantly update to latest coding versions and HAAD coding directives
- Perform miscellaneous job related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Experience in medical coding with ICD 10/CPT/HCPCS/DRG
- Knowledge of HAAD coding guidelines and regulations
- Ability to analyze physician documentation for accurate coding
Compliance and Safety
- Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures
- Work in accordance with documented OSH procedures and instructions
- Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
- Notify OSH hazards, incidents, near misses and assist with risk assessments and incident reports
- Comply with waste management procedures and policies
- Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems
