Our Liquid Waste Services Department is seeking a Hydrologic Technologist who will be a key member of the Flow Metering & Data Analysis team responsible for data acquisition and analysis for the collections and drainage system. This role involves performing data analytics to serve internal and external needs, while constantly striving for continuous improvement.
You are an experienced professional with advanced hydrologic and data analytics competencies. You are service-oriented, and excited to join a dynamic team that gets things done, in a fast-paced environment. Your adaptability and positive attitude will make you a valuable contributor to the team in short order.
Assists project engineers with the collection and presentation of data related to sewer and water systems such as population, land use, delineation of tributary areas and hydraulic parameters for engineering studies and reviews; assists in the implementation of inflow and infiltration investigations and studies.
Collects raw data including down-loading of data in the field; manages data storage; analyzes such data and prepares reports; performs statistical analysis of data for use in the Waste and Water Management Plan, inflow and infiltration studies, wastewater treatment plant studies and design of sanitary and storm sewers using application software.
Operates and maintains hydraulic computer models.
Performs technical design work of intermediate complexity.
Establishes and maintains liaison between District staff and various Government agencies and outside engineering consultants.
Performs related work as required.

Graduation from an Institute of Technology Diploma program in Civil or Structural Engineering plus sound related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Sound knowledge of municipal engineering design involving sanitary, sewers, drainage works and/or water mains.
Sound knowledge of geotechnical and/or hydrological engineering technology.
Sound knowledge of statistics such as linear and non-linear regression, probability distributions and statistical theory of extreme values and applications.
Sound knowledge of computers and system and application software as related to the work performed.
Ability to perform technical design work of intermediate complexity.
Ability to work independently under minimum supervision.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts.
Valid Driver's Licence for the Province of British Columbia.
