Role overview
HVAC Design and Estimation Engineer role supporting HVAC projects across the UAE.
The role covers design review, calculations, equipment selection, quantity take-offs, costing, tendering, and technical proposals.
Key responsibilities
- Review HVAC drawings, tender documents, specifications, BOQs, RFQs, and requirements.
- Perform cooling load calculations and HVAC system design.
- Select equipment for VRF/VRV, DX, chillers, FCUs, AHUs, FAHUs, package units, fresh air, and ventilation systems.
- Perform duct, airflow, chilled-water pipe, refrigerant piping, and ventilation calculations.
- Prepare layouts, schematics, equipment schedules, and technical drawings.
- Prepare quantity take-offs, BOQs, cost estimates, quotations, and comparison sheets.
- Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations and identify risks, exclusions, deviations, and variations.
- Prepare technical submittals, compliance statements, datasheets, and equipment schedules.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, suppliers, procurement, and site teams.
- Conduct site surveys and support value engineering, installation, testing, and commissioning.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience in HVAC design and estimation engineering.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, load calculations, equipment selection, duct design, piping design, and ventilation calculations.
- Experience with BOQ preparation, quantity take-off, costing, rate analysis, and tender preparation.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with HAP or equivalent HVAC load calculation software.
- Knowledge of ASHRAE, SMACNA, UAE standards, and authority requirements.
- Ability to interpret architectural, mechanical, and MEP drawings.
- Good technical communication and English reporting skills.
Preferred qualifications
- Revit MEP or BIM knowledge is an advantage.
- Knowledge of the UAE HVAC supplier and subcontractor market is preferred.
- UAE experience is preferred.
