Job Description

  • The HSE Engineer will be responsible for implementing and monitoring health, safety, and environmental systems across the project to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, client requirements, and international best practices.
  • The role will support the safe delivery of works by proactively identifying risks and driving a strong safety culture on site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with project HSE requirements, local regulations, and international standards.
  • Monitor and enforce implementation of the approved HSE Plan across all project activities.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Review method statements, risk assessments, and permit to work systems to ensure alignment with HSE requirements.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and prepare detailed reports with root cause analysis and preventive measures.
  • Deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness sessions to project personnel.
  • Maintain accurate records of HSE performance, including statistics, reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Liaise with contractors, consultants, and client representatives on all HSE related matters.
  • Support emergency preparedness and response planning, including drills and coordination.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement in HSE performance.

Minimum Requirements

  • Not less than ten (10) years of experience in HSE management within similar projects (e.g. infrastructure, construction, or engineering projects).
  • Experience on rail or metro projects would be advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of international HSE standards and best practices.
  • Experience in implementing HSE management systems on large scale projects.
  • Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Professional HSE certifications (such as NEBOSH or equivalent) will be an advantage.
