Position Details

The position is HSE Engineer in the BNI department.

The role reports to the Operations Manager or Team Leader and works with the same stakeholders.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Required specialty areas include occupational health and safety, environmental management, hazardous materials management, process safety, and construction safety.
  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • Minimum five years of experience as a site HSE specialist or in a similar role is required.

Technical Knowledge

  • Knowledge of physical, chemical, biological, and ergonomic workplace hazards and risk assessment and control methods.
  • Knowledge of PPE, occupational health and safety regulations, environmental regulations, monitoring, sampling, waste management, and environmental impact mitigation.
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials classification, labeling, communication, handling, storage, transportation, and emergency response.
  • Knowledge of HAZOP, process safety management systems, process safety engineering principles, and applicable industry standards.
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, interpretation, reporting, technical communication, collaboration, and training facilitation.

Primary Functions

  • Ensure the health, safety, and environmental well-being of the organization and its stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement HSE policies and procedures, conduct risk assessments, provide training, monitor performance, collaborate with stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement.

Business Requirements

  • Ensure compliance with Bureau Veritas HSE policy and continuously improve HSE performance.
  • Maintain internal and external communication, promote Bureau Veritas services to clients, and complete essential business information.

Customer Focus

  • Maintain regular job-related contact with clients, understand their needs, and work toward successful project outcomes.
  • Develop trust and open communication with clients and monitor customer satisfaction.

HSE Accountabilities

  • Stop work when conditions or situations are unsafe and promptly inform the reporting manager.
  • Report hazards, incidents, near misses, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions, and participate in investigations and corrective controls.
  • Use appropriate PPE, maintain a safe and tidy work area, comply with legal and company requirements, and submit required reports on time.

Development and KPIs

  • Complete professional training, read relevant technical literature, attend courses or seminars, and progress toward competence targets.
  • KPIs include zero fatalities, target incident rates, near-miss and unsafe-condition reporting, training targets, regular HSE audits, and regulatory compliance.
