About the Role

Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain Health & Safety/Environmental policies and procedures per OH&S and other regulations
- Champion H&S, Environmental, Ergonomics Assessments and related Inspections and Audits
- Manage WSIB claims, lost time statistics, and Form 7 submissions
- Conduct studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards
- Inspect facilities to detect accident and health hazards and recommend corrective measures
- Arrange and deliver in house Safety/Environment/Ergonomic training
- Maintain and update SDS, training matrix, and safety databases
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in related field preferred
- Minimum 5 years progressive health & safety experience in a manufacturing environment
- Thorough knowledge of Ontario OH&SA and related regulations
- Effective time management, organizational and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Fluent in English

Job Responsibilities
- Implements and maintains all Health & Safety / Environmental policies and procedures as per OH&S and other requirements.
- Champions H&S, Environmental, Ergonomics Assessment and related Inspections and Audits and resulting Action Plans.
- Champions HWIN, NPRI, TRA, ECA applications/upkeep, including legal aspects and reporting.
- WSIB claims and lost time statistics and timely submission of WSIB Form 7.
- Make studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards.
- Inspect facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards.
- Active member of Magna Safety Group ensuring compliance with WSIB Work well Audit.
- Arranges H&S / Ergonomics Meetings, participates as Joint Health & Safety member.
- Sets up / ensures completion of Workplace Inspections for all departments.
- Assist in monitoring contracts for employee PPE.
- Arranges / delivers in house Safety / Environment/Ergonomic training.
- Maintains / updates online SDS, providing hard copy for easy access.
Skills and Competencies
- Thorough knowledge of Federal/Provincial Regulations, OH&SA, CSA, Environmental Standards, Ontario Human Rights Code, Workers’ Compensation Standards Act.
- Thorough knowledge of all related reporting obligations for H&S, Enviro, Ergo, WSIB.
- Effective time management, organizational and problem solving skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Must be able to work independently, source and vet vendors.
- Must be able to coach, facilitate and influence cultural and behavioral change.
- Demonstrated capacity to work in a team, provide situational leadership.
Job Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years progressive health & safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills coupled with expert Excel, Word, Database capabilities.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Industrial Ergonomics, desired.
- Fluent in English both written and verbal.
