Overview
- A Front of House (FOH) staff member is the public face of a restaurant, hotel, or venue.
- They ensure a welcoming guest experience by managing reservations, greeting patrons, and providing prompt, friendly service.
- They coordinate directly between guests and the rest of the business to ensure operations run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Guest Services: Greet guests warmly, manage seating or check in, and ensure overall customer satisfaction.
- Order Taking & Serving: Accurately process orders, maintain deep menu/service knowledge (including allergens), and deliver food and drinks promptly.
- Station Maintenance: Keep the dining room, bar, and service areas clean, tidy, and fully stocked throughout the shift.
- Transactions: Process payments, handle cash, and balance drawers using the establishment's Point of Sale (POS) system.
- Conflict Resolution: Handle guest complaints or concerns professionally and escalate them to management when necessary.
- Cross Functional Communication: Act as a liaison between the guests, serving staff, and the kitchen or back of house team.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Prior experience in customer service, hospitality, or food and beverage is usually preferred but not required.
- Soft Skills: Excellent verbal communication, a welcoming personality, and the ability to multitask in a fast paced environment.
- Composure: Capability to remain polite, calm, and efficient during stressful or busy situations.
