The ideal candidate will have demonstrated proficiency in graphic design, with experience creating polished content for professional, academic, or organizational audiences. Experience doing strategic communications in a professional setting including social media, writing, and email marketing experience is a plus. The successful candidate should be organized, detail-oriented, creative, and able to manage multiple projects independently and collaboratively. Strong communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills are required, as well as the ability to work professionally with staff, faculty, and students. Interest in natural resource related topics is a plus. Candidates should be self-motivated, proactive, and able to take initiative while working both independently and collaboratively.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
The UW-Madison Extension Natural Resources Institute is seeking a qualified student to support our Marketing and Communications Unit with graphic design and strategic communications. This position will be roughly 70% graphic design where the candidate will design and produce high-quality visual content for Natural Resources Institute programs and grant-based projects in InDesign and Illustrator. The remaining 30% of the position will be assisting with Natural Resources Institute strategic communications including developing content for social media (Facebook), writing engaging blogs, and updating and editing monthly email newsletters. Experience in graphic design is a priority while strategic communications experience is a plus.
