The Government Relations Director shapes and advances public policy and regulatory interests for an engineering and consulting firm.
The role monitors legislation, analyzes regulatory impact, manages public-sector relationships, and coordinates advocacy.
Work Arrangement
- The role is part-time and remote.
- The position is based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Core Responsibilities
- Monitor relevant legislation and regulatory developments.
- Analyze the impact of legislation and regulations on engineering and consulting activities.
- Prepare summaries and briefings for leadership.
- Develop relationships with government bodies, regulatory agencies, and industry associations.
- Coordinate advocacy efforts aligned with strategic objectives.
- Draft position papers, policy memos, and correspondence.
- Participate in virtual stakeholder meetings.
- Advise internal teams on compliance and government engagement strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues to support business development and organizational goals.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in governmental affairs and government relations is required.
- Experience in lobbying, legislative relations, advocacy coordination, and policymaker engagement is required.
- Strong understanding of legislation and regulatory processes is required.
- Experience in engineering, infrastructure, or professional services sectors is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills are required.
- Arabic proficiency is advantageous.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills are required.
- A bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Law, Political Science, Engineering Management, or a related field is required; an advanced degree is a plus.
- The candidate must work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a remote part-time setting.
