General Manager- Agriculture

To support the Head of Agriculture in leading the Group’s agriculture strategy, innovation, and transformation initiatives across agricultural platforms.

The role focuses on enhancing productivity, sustainability, operational efficiency, and commercial growth through modern farming practices, agri-data, assess AI-driven solutions, and scalable agriculture business models.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Support the development and execution of the Group’s agriculture strategy, with a focus on innovation, sustainability, scalability, and commercial viability.

Support the Group’s agriculture investment strategy by identifying scalable opportunities, emerging technologies, and commercially viable agriculture platforms.

Drive transformation initiatives across agri-value chains through digital agriculture, AI-enabled solutions, precision farming, and modern irrigation and cultivation methods.

Lead R&D initiatives focused on crop optimisation, water efficiency, soil health, climate-resilient agriculture, and sustainable farming practices.

Integrate agri-data, analytics, automation, and smart farming technologies to enhance productivity, operational efficiency, and resource utilisation.

Build partnerships with technology providers, research institutions, universities, and agri-tech platforms to support innovation and long-term growth.

Oversee end-to-end agricultural operations, ensuring efficient execution across farms, facilities, supply chains, and operational sites.

Implement best practices in farm management, crop planning, irrigation systems, planting methodologies, resource allocation, and operational controls.

Oversee implementation of modern irrigation systems and advanced planting methodologies to optimize crop yield, water utilization, and operational sustainability.

Ensure operational excellence through performance monitoring, KPIs, reporting frameworks, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards applicable to agriculture operations.

Develop and implement sustainable and profitable business models across agriculture verticals and platforms.

Promote business development, strategic partnerships, and sales initiatives across agriculture products, technologies, and services to support revenue generation and market expansion.

Identify revenue streams, market opportunities, and expansion strategies across regional and international markets.

Identify and pursue opportunities to commercialize agriculture innovations, products, and operational capabilities.

Drive partnerships, joint ventures, and commercial agreements to scale agriculture platforms and operations.

Support branding and market positioning initiatives for agriculture-related businesses and products.

Manage budgets, cost structures, financial planning, and performance of agriculture operations and projects.

Ensure alignment between operational delivery, investment objectives, and financial targets.

Provide regular reporting and insights to senior leadership on operational performance, business growth, risks, and investment opportunities.

Identify operational efficiencies and cost optimization opportunities while maintaining productivity and quality standards.

Act as the primary interface with internal leadership, investment teams, and portfolio entities on agriculture initiatives and opportunities.

Build and maintain relationships with government authorities, regulators, industry bodies, research institutions, technology partners, and investors.

Support strategic presentations, investment discussions, and stakeholder reporting related to agriculture initiatives and performance.

Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate vision into execution

Deep understanding of agriculture operations, agri-business models, and agri-value chains

Experience in digital agriculture, agri-tech, AI applications, and data-driven farming practices

Strong knowledge of modern farming, planting, irrigation, and water management methodologies

Commercial acumen with the ability to build scalable and profitable business models

Strong operational leadership and execution capabilities

Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities

12–18+ years of experience in agriculture, agri-business, or related sectors

Proven experience in leading large-scale agriculture operations, transformation initiatives, or agriculture ventures

Exposure to agri-tech, R&D, AI applications, or data-driven agriculture solutions is essential

Experience in modern farming systems, irrigation technologies, and sustainable agriculture practices is highly desirable

Experience in business development, commercialisation, and scaling agriculture platforms or products

Regional (GCC/MENA) experience is preferred

Prior experience in investment-linked, multi-asset, or diversified business environments is an advantage.

Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Engineering, or related field

Postgraduate qualification (MBA or relevant specialization) preferred.
