Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Owner’s Project Manager (OPM) to lead the delivery of a major sour gas processing plant project in the UAE.
The OPM will function as the owner’s point of accountability for the successful execution of the project and be responsible for the structuring and management of the tender process.
This role demands strong leadership, technical understanding of high H₂S / CO₂ environments, and a proven history delivering large, complex EPC style projects safely, on schedule, and within budget in the Middle East region.
This is a critical position due to the HSE priorities and financial investment ($500M-$1B USD) of this resource development.
Project Leadership & Execution
- Lead the full project lifecycle from FEED to commissioning.
- Support owner’s legal and financial teams in the development of contracting strategy (EPC, EPCm, DBOOM).
- Ensure project execution is aligned with contractual, technical, and safety requirements.
- Develop and manage the staffing program for owner’s multidisciplinary project team (engineering, procurement, EHS, inspection, etc.).
- Maintain clear, proactive communication to resolve issues and prevent delays.
Hse Priorities
- Champion an industry leading safety culture across all project phases.
- Ensure strict compliance with all HSE requirements.
- Promote comprehensive safety assurance and auditing throughout the execution phase.
Contract Management
- Ensure contract compliance and lead amendment process.
- Oversee budget management and forecasting.
- Identify and mitigate commercial and execution risks.
- Manage integrated project schedules and provide accurate reporting to stakeholders.
Essential Technical Competencies
- Plant process design
- Acid gas removal
- Sulphur removal unit
- Mechanical refrigeration / stabilization
- Safety and process containment
- Control systems, utilities
- Material selection and constructability
- Compliance with recognized international codes and standards
- Optimized design for operability and maintenance
Requirements & Key Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Minimum 20 years’ relative experience in large capital projects.
- Demonstrated experience delivering sour gas projects valued at $500M-$1B USD.
- Extensive history working in the Middle East with onshore oil & gas projects.
- Proven experience in management of EPC / EPCm / DBOOM contracts.
- Strong commercial and contractual acumen.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
