About The Role
We are seeking a highly analytical Financial Analyst to support our growing Gulf States division.
This role will be instrumental in supporting strategic decision-making through financial modeling, scenario analysis, and executive-level presentations.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical skills from investment banking, private equity, or similar environments and apply them to the upstream energy sector.
This position requires close collaboration across multiple functions including planning engineers, corporate planning, and finance/accounting teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, build, and maintain complex financial models for new venture opportunities, development projects, and portfolio / operational optimization.
- Conduct scenario and sensitivity analyses to evaluate project economics under various oil and gas price environments, production profiles, capital spending scenarios, fiscal regimes, and cost structures for existing concessions
- Evaluate new venture opportunities including exploration prospects, farm-ins, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships across the Gulf States region
- Prepare PowerPoint and other presentations for senior management & regional partners that clearly communicate financial insights, recommendations, and strategic options for the Gulf States division.
- Assess fiscal terms concession agreements common in Gulf States jurisdictions
- Partner with planning engineers to translate technical data and production forecasts into financial models and economic evaluations for regional assets.
- Facilitate cross-functional alignment on project assumptions, economics, and key decision criteria for scenario analysis and new ventures.
- Collaborate with international division and corporate planning to align forecast changes with long-range strategic objectives and capital budgets, and portfolio plans
- Work closely with finance and accounting teams to ensure consistency with financial reporting, budgets, and variance analysis
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate development, or financial analysis
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Advanced proficiency in Excel financial modeling and scenario planning
- Strong PowerPoint skills with ability to create executive-level presentations
- Willingness to dive into the details, identify, reconcile and explain discrepancies and unexpected outcomes
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Superior attention to detail and ability to work with complex datasets
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in the oil and gas industry, particularly upstream operations
- Exposure to Gulf States oil and gas markets, business practices, or regional operations
- Understanding of international fiscal regimes and other contractual frameworks common in the Gulf States
- Knowledge of production economics, and petroleum engineering fundamentals
- Professional designation a plus (e.g. ACCA, CPA, CFA, MBA, PMP, P. ENG)
- Knowledge of upstream value drivers, drilling and completion economics, and field development planning
- Experience working in cross-functional team environments with engineering, finance/accounting, and planning groups
- Experience evaluating new venture opportunities or early-stage exploration and development projects
