Position Overview

The Front Desk Coordinator is the first point of contact for members and guests at Merrithew's fitness center.

The role combines front desk reception, customer service, proactive membership sales, and member engagement.

Position Details

  • The position is part time and permanent.
  • The stated location is 2 Bloor St E, Suite 1000, Toronto, and the role is onsite.

Customer Service

  • Greet members and guests, provide information, process check-ins and bookings, and handle payments.
  • Tour first-time guests, introduce them to instructors, address inquiries, and maintain clean and stocked front desk and studio areas.

Sales and Membership Growth

  • Convert first-time guests into members based on instructor recommendations.
  • Promote and sell memberships, class packages, and retail products.
  • Schedule and conduct prospective member tours and explain benefits, features, and introductory offers.
  • Follow up with leads using the management software cadence and work toward studio goals.
  • Support referral programs, challenges, and in-studio or off-site engagement events.

Administrative and Operations

  • Process membership applications, renewals, freezes, and cancellations and maintain member records and schedules.
  • Manage POS transactions and daily sales reconciliation.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures and coordinate with instructors and management.
  • Support shift transitions, cleaning and restocking, and apprentice schedule changes.

Skills and Qualifications

  • At least two years of front desk, customer service, or sales experience.
  • Fitness or hospitality experience is preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and sales skills with a customer-first mindset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and point-of-sale software.
  • Ability to multitask, remain calm under pressure, and work required shifts.
  • Comfort capturing in-studio photo or video content for social media.

  • Team-oriented attitude, professional appearance, self-motivation, and goal orientation are preferred.
  • Problem-solving and calm de-escalation skills are preferred.
