Field Service Engineer

About the Role

Service Responsibilities

• Service equipment on-site and at the service center according to Alfa Laval standards and procedures.
• Install, commission, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain high-speed separators, decanters, plate heat exchangers, and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical and PLC controls, including EPC controls, 2 Touch, Basic, and Plus controls.
• Perform service-agreement audits and maintenance activities and ensure scheduled service visits are fulfilled.
• Carry out heat exchanger stripping, assessment, cleaning, repair, assembly, and testing.
• Perform rotating-equipment mechanical and electrical servicing, assessment, repair, assembly, testing, installation, and commissioning.
• Resolve customer complaints and communicate problems to managers for preventive or remedial action.

Customer and Business Support

• Document each service visit, including observations, commitments, service reports, expenses, payroll, and signed customer timesheets.
• Recommend timely spare-parts purchases, servicing, and service agreements to customers.
• Provide remote customer guidance and train customers or other Field Service Engineers on basic product features.
• Generate service leads through the FSE Lead app and support sales functions with technical solutions.
• Participate in technical forums and ad hoc service transformation projects assigned by Service Management.

Qualifications and Experience

• Engineering background in mechanical, electrical, or automation with hands-on experience.
• Minimum 5–8 years of experience with rotating equipment, heat exchangers, decanters, high-speed separators, and associated equipment.
• Knowledge of process control instrumentation, software programs, and industrial networking is advantageous.
• Good practical knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and digital reporting.
• Good communication and negotiation skills across organizational levels.
• Good spoken and written English communication skills.
• A driving license is required.
• Flexibility for national and international assignments, long-duration work, overtime, and short-notice assignments is required.

Workplace and Conditions

• The position is based at the Alfa Laval office in Dubai and reports to the Field Service Team Manager.
• The role includes frequent attendance on the shop floor and substantial national and international travel.
• Safety equipment, including footwear, hearing protection, and eyewear, is required on the shop floor.
