The Opportunity
Working within our Network Planning & Design team, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality fibre network designs, cost estimates and technical documentation while ensuring compliance with engineering standards, Safety in Design principles and project requirements. You'll collaborate with internal stakeholders, contractors and vendors to deliver resilient, buildable and commercially sound network outcomes.
Depending on your level of experience, you'll receive mentorship from senior specialists or provide technical leadership and guidance across the team.
What you'll be doing
Design end-to-end fibre routes for new customer services, network expansions and strategic projects.
Develop fibre network solutions and cost estimates that enable accurate customer quoting and commercial decision-making.
Monitor network capacity and utilisation, identifying upgrade, augmentation and rearrangement requirements to maintain network performance.
Produce and maintain high-quality design documentation, including plans, drawings, work orders, scopes of work and as-built records.
Apply Safety in Design principles, engineering standards and regulatory requirements across all design activities.
Provide technical support throughout network build and delivery, resolving design queries and ensuring successful project outcomes.
Support fibre network preventative maintenance activities, including risk assessment, network audits and permanent remediation solutions.
Review temporary repairs and implement long-term network restoration strategies.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across planning, design processes, systems, data quality and tools.
Maintain network records and documentation to ensure compliance with industry standards, carrier agreements and property requirements.
Achieve agreed KPIs, SLAs and project delivery targets.
Essential
5+ years' experience in fibre network planning, design, documentation and delivery.
Strong understanding of fibre network architecture, including aerial and underground network design.
Experience producing design deliverables such as route plans, splice schedules, work orders and GIS/CAD records.
Knowledge of network capacity management, route optimisation and buildability considerations.
Experience developing cost estimates and supporting commercial decision-making.
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
Highly regarded
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications or a related discipline.
Experience in complex carrier, wholesale or critical infrastructure fibre networks.
Proficient GIS and CAD skills.
Safety in Design and infrastructure compliance experience.
Proven experience supporting preventative maintenance and network lifecycle programs.
