Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor sheet extrusion machinery, including extruders, dies, roll stacks, cooling systems, and winder/sheeting units
- Load and unload raw materials (plastic resins, master batches, additives) into hoppers, ensuring correct material usage
- Adjust machine parameters such as temperature, pressure, speed, and thickness settings to ensure optimal product quality
- Monitor product quality during production, performing visual inspections and dimensional checks using measuring tools
- Identify and troubleshoot common extrusion issues such as melt fracture, die lines, gauge variations, and surface defects
- Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks on extrusion equipment, including cleaning dies, changing screens, and lubricating components
- Maintain accurate production records, including material usage, production output, downtime, and quality checks
- Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout protocols
- Package finished plastic sheets according to specifications, ensuring proper labeling and preparation for shipping
Requirements
- High school diploma or technical certificate
- 1 5 years of experience in machine operation in a manufacturing/production environment (plastics preferred)
- Solid understanding of various plastic resins and their processing characteristics
- Ability to read and interpret production schedules, specifications, and quality control documents
- Proficient in using basic measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, tape measures)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work various shifts (rotating shifts, nights, weekends)

Job Purpose
- To operate production machinery efficiently and safely to achieve daily production targets. The Machine Operator is responsible for machine setup, monitoring, basic maintenance, and ensuring products meet quality standards. Must be experienced in thermoforming processes, material behavior under heat
Roles and Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor sheet extrusion machinery, including extruders, dies, roll stacks, cooling systems, and winder/sheeting units.
- Load and unload raw materials (plastic resins, Master batches, additives) into hoppers, ensuring correct material usage as per production orders.
- Adjust machine parameters such as temperature, pressure, speed, and thickness settings to ensure optimal product quality and consistency.
- Monitor product quality during production, performing regular visual inspections and dimensional checks (e.g., thickness, width) using measuring tools like micrometers and calipers.
- Identify and troubleshoot common extrusion issues such as melt fracture, die lines, gauge variations, Clarity and surface defects, making necessary adjustments to resolve them.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks on extrusion equipment, including cleaning dies, changing screens, and lubricating components.
- Maintain accurate production records, including material usage, production output, downtime, and quality checks.
- Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout protocols, and ensure a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with maintenance technicians for complex repairs or significant equipment issues.
- Package finished plastic sheets according to specifications, ensuring proper labeling and preparation for shipping.
- Assist in inventory management of raw materials and finished goods within the extrusion area.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including quality management systems (e.g., ISO and BRC).
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High school diploma or technical certificate.
- Training in machine operation or industrial safety preferred.
Experience and Skills
- 1–5 years of experience in machine operation in a manufacturing/production environment (plastics preferred).
- Teamwork and communication skills.

- Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
Core Competencies
- Solid understanding of various plastic resins (e.g., PET, PP, PE, PS) and their processing characteristics.

- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to understand and adjust machine controls and parameters.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high quality products.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate with team members and document production data.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work various shifts (e.g., rotating shifts, nights, weekends) as required by production schedules.
