About the Role
Hamad Bin Khalifa University seeks an Executive Director to provide leadership in research project management, infrastructure development, and scientific investigation in computing research areas such as Arabic Language Technologies, Data Security, Bioinformatics, Precision Health, and AI.

Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership in research project management, infrastructure development and scientific investigation in Computing Research in high priority areas such as Arabic Language Technologies, Data Security, Bioinformatics, Precision Health, and Artificial Intelligence.
- Promote collaborative research relationships within HBKU, Qatar and globally.
Requirements
- PhD in a relevant field of hard science with a strong record of publications, conference participation, presentations and scientific contributions.
- 16 years of relevant experience with at least 5 years at a senior level in academic management, with responsibility for R&D functions, preferably in an IT / Computing environment and including mentorship of PhD candidates, post docs and scientists.
- Experience managing annual research budgets of at least $15,000,000 USD. Fund raising / financing / research contracting experience a plus.
- Experience in Project management.
- Strong knowledge of Internet computing, bioinformatics, Arabic Language Technologies, Digital Society, etc. Knowledge of research tools, procedures & protocols, and technologies for computing research; knowledge of computing trends and work in computing R&D.
- Sound people management, team building and motivational skills.
- Knowledge of local & international regulations for computing research and digital society guidelines.
- Outstanding writing skills with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications and to articulate ideas clearly and concisely; proficiency in Arabic an advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
