Overview
- The Excellence Specialist is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of the Department of Energy’s Excellence Framework and for conducting excellence related activities, including promoting a culture of excellence, self assessment, analysis, and benchmarking.
- Additionally, the Excellence Specialist is tasked with the responsibility of analyzing feedback reports and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and implementing the Excellence Framework to facilitate the administration of the excellence improvement cycle (from identifying Areas for Improvement (AFIs) to monitoring the required initiatives related to AFIs).
- Assist the Section Head in the development of awareness sessions about the Excellence framework and principles.
- Produce reports and presentations as needed.
- Assist applicants in submitting applications for the AD Excellence Award.
- Support in the analysis of the comprehensive reports received from the AD award office and collaboration with directorates to suggest improvement initiatives.
- Assist all directorates with coaching and training.
- Make recommendations and assist directorates/sections units in achieving business excellence.
- Assist in supporting the DoE directorates/sections in developing and updating pertinent initiatives pertaining to areas for improvement.
- Establish an appropriate mechanism and approach for facilitating the benchmarking of OKRs, targets, policies, and practices on a local or international level.
- Assist in the facilitation of workshops necessary for the efficient and effective communication of corporate policies and excellence programs
- Capture and share lessons learned and other useful knowledge that will help the Department of Energy achieve greater excellence.
- Educate and train all directorates on business excellence topics
Additional Responsibilities
- Guide the liaison function in terms of relationship building and networking with both strategic and business partners for the purpose of benchmarking and implementing best practices.
- Collaborate with the excellence team to develop, implement, and evaluate initiatives aimed at implementing the Excellence model throughout the DOE.
- Assist in conducting organizational assessments to determine the extent to which excellence practices are being adopted throughout DOE.
- Assist in the development of assessment reports, which include strengths, weaknesses, and recommendations.
- Participate in knowledge transfer, training, and coaching with DOE directorates on excellence concepts and techniques.
- Assist the appropriate stakeholders across the various directorates in developing and executing transformational projects that enhance excellence, performance, and profitability.
- Collaborate with various directorates to identify areas for improvement by collecting data, analyzing it, and developing improvements and innovations through the use of statistical analysis and other techniques.
- Implement the requirements of ADAEP (Abu Dhabi Award Excellence Program) by supervising the planning and implementation of self evaluation programs at the entity level and participating in the preparation and review of nomination papers for the Award.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, e.g., Business strategy, strategic management, or business administration., or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience, in a relevant field (organizational consulting, project management, and developing, presenting, implementing and evaluating programs).
