ETL Test Automation Engineer

Role Overview

• The role is based in Bengaluru and identified as on-site.
• The position is full-time and supports one of Weekday AI’s clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Validate ETL logic, business logic, and data quality across Snowflake, Databricks, Hive, and other platforms.
• Identify pipeline failure points and data issues early with Data Engineers.
• Design and maintain automated, reusable test cases and improve test coverage.
• Create test scenarios for KPIs, metrics, business rules, and data transformations.
• Enhance the automation framework for scalability and maintainability.
• Validate large datasets with optimized SQL queries and identify anomalies.
• Collaborate with analysts, product managers, data engineers, and engineering teams.
• Test data pipelines, workflows, and production data environments.

Required Qualifications

• Five or more years of relevant experience is required.
• Strong experience in data validation, ETL testing, data pipelines, and data warehouse testing in production.
• Expert SQL skills for large-scale and terabyte-scale dataset validation.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Hive, Python, and test automation.
• Java and Playwright are listed as must-have skills.
• Experience or familiarity with Apache Airflow, Apache Spark, CI/CD, and software development lifecycle practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Additional Skills

• Preferred experience includes BDD frameworks such as Behave, AWS or other cloud environments, and data quality tools such as Deequ or Great Expectations.
• Agile development, automated regression testing, and scalable test framework design experience are preferred.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills are required.
