Estimation & Design Engineer – Switchgear

About the Role

Product and Panel Experience

• Experience may include MDB, SMDB, FDB, MCC, ATS, APFC or capacitor bank panels.
• Experience may also include VFD and soft starter panels, PLC and control panels, or synchronizing panels.

Key Responsibilities

• Review enquiries, tenders, specifications and electrical drawings.
• Prepare technical and commercial estimates, BOQs, BOMs and material take-offs.
• Select switchgear components and prepare panel single-line diagrams and schematics.
• Develop panel layouts and assist with detailed engineering and design.
• Calculate component costs and evaluate supplier pricing with procurement.
• Prepare quotations, maintain project margins and identify compliant cost-effective alternatives.
• Coordinate with sales, procurement, production and project teams.
• Review technical submittals, answer technical queries and maintain estimation records and pricing databases.

Requirements

• 5–7 years of UAE experience in LV switchgear estimation and design.
• Strong switchgear or panel manufacturing or electrical contracting experience.
• Hands-on experience with MDB, SMDB, FDB, MCC, ATS and APFC panels.
• Strong knowledge of breakers, contactors, overload relays, busbars, CTs, meters and protection devices.
• Experience with BOQs, BOMs, costing and technical or commercial quotations.
• Ability to read electrical single-line diagrams, schematics and technical specifications.
• Experience with AutoCAD and preferably electrical design or engineering software.
• Good understanding of IEC standards and LV switchgear requirements.
• Strong MS Excel skills for estimation and costing.
• Electrical Engineering or Electrical Diploma qualification is preferred.
• UAE switchgear manufacturing experience is essential.

Ideal Candidate

• The ideal candidate has hands-on experience estimating and designing LV switchgear panels rather than a general electrical design or estimation background.
• Candidates from switchgear manufacturers, panel builders, electrical contractors or electrical engineering companies are strongly preferred.
• The role can be independently handled from tender or enquiry review through BOQ/BOM, component selection, costing, panel design, quotation and technical clarification.
