Job Description

Wood is seeking expressions of interest for a Principal Project Controls Engineer to support future business growth.

Projects may cover FEED, Pre-FEED, brownfield, and greenfield scopes of work.

The role involves executing project work within project execution plans, safety and quality procedures, man-hour targets, cost targets, and schedule targets.

This is described as a long-term assignment based in Qatar.

Project Experience

  • Experience in onshore oil and gas is sought.
  • Experience in offshore oil and gas is sought.

Project Controls Responsibilities

  • Act as the client and contractor project controls focal point for accurate cost and progress reporting.
  • Prepare planning support packages and project controls procedures.
  • Manage project CTR budgets, costs, payment plans, invoices, and forecasts.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly schedule and cost reports using earned value management.
  • Monitor milestone impacts, critical path performance, slippages, float erosion, and recovery actions.
  • Develop and maintain work breakdown structures and cost and planning control structures.
  • Manage work approval, cost code allocation, budget setup, and approvals.
  • Assess change requests and incorporate approved impacts into budgets and schedules.
  • Support billing, quantity changes, unit rates, earned value measurement, and variance reporting.
  • Produce S-curves, histograms, and fully resourced logic-linked Gantt charts.
  • Coordinate change orders, risk analysis, client meetings, proposal schedules, and CTR packs.
  • Ensure project controls processes are accurate, current, and followed.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
  • A minimum of 15 years’ oil and gas industry experience, mainly offshore downstream, is required.
  • Proven capability in a similar position within an engineering design company is required.
  • Previous Middle East experience is advantageous.
