Role Description

Based in Toronto, Ontario, the Environmental Manager reports to the VP, Environment, Health and Safety.

The role collaborates with QuadReal's Environmental and Health and Safety Team and domestic and international teams.

The manager leads at least two direct reports and oversees environmental matters across domestic, U.S., and international portfolios.

Environmental Portfolio Responsibilities

  • Lead environmental due diligence for international assets and directly managed U.S. assets, supporting investment and asset management teams.
  • Provide oversight on asbestos, mould, hazardous materials, indoor air quality, groundwater monitoring, delineation, and remediation.
  • Track changing environmental regulations and assess their impact across jurisdictions.
  • Manage financing and environmental insurance requirements for international properties.

Reporting and Administration

  • Coordinate and review annual sustainability and EHS reporting with international partners.
  • Support budget forecasting for remediation, monitoring, and compliance activities.
  • Maintain centralized records for environmental reports, invoices, and acquisition-related data.

Leadership

  • Manage, mentor, and provide guidance to direct reports and junior staff.
  • Serve as a senior team member and role model while fostering collaboration across the organization.
  • Participate in additional environmental initiatives as required.

Experience and Qualifications

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Environmental Studies focused on Environmental Assessment and Health and Safety is required.
  • 5–10 years of environmental field experience and at least 4 years of people management experience are required.
  • Real estate experience is preferred.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, independent work, prioritization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint is required.

Compensation and Benefits

  • The expected annualized base salary range is $120,000–$130,000.
