Environmental Engineer

Job purpose

Key responsibilities

• Implement environmental and sustainability plans within assigned work areas and advise construction teams on required controls.
• Prepare environmental assessments and review subcontractor method statements before work begins.
• Conduct regular site inspections and monitor dust, noise, waste, wastewater, spills, soil contamination, and ecology impacts.
• Track non-conformances, corrective actions, environmental incidents, complaints, near misses, permits, waste, monitoring, and audit records.
• Deliver inductions and toolbox talks, support audits and incident investigations, and liaise with consultants and regulators.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, chemical engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7–10 years of relevant GCC environmental management experience on construction or infrastructure projects.
• Working knowledge of Saudi environmental regulations and NCEC, MEWA, NCW, and NCVC permitting authorities.
• ISO 14001 knowledge and Saudi Council of Engineers membership are required; additional environmental certifications are desirable.
• Practical EMP/CEMP, environmental monitoring, incident investigation, corrective action, reporting, and stakeholder management experience.
• Fluent English is mandatory; Arabic is an advantage.

Skills and competencies

• Strong report writing, documentation, and record-keeping skills.
• Good communication and stakeholder management across client, consultant, subcontractor, and regulatory interfaces.
• High attention to detail and practical judgment on active construction sites.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with environmental or EHS data management systems.
• Ability to work in a large, fast-paced, multi-stakeholder megaproject team.
