Environmental Management and Compliance
- Develop environmental requirements, standards and procedures for dam projects and operations and maintenance activities.
- Prepare environmental management and monitoring plans and conduct or review environmental impact assessments.
- Identify environmental risks and assess impacts on water, air, soil, groundwater, biodiversity, aquatic habitats and communities.
- Support environmental permits, licences and approvals and maintain an environmental legal register.
- Audit contractors’ environmental performance, plans and technical submissions.
- Conduct site inspections and verify compliance with approved environmental requirements.
Monitoring and Incident Management
- Monitor waste generation, hazardous materials, erosion, sedimentation, dust, noise, wastewater and pollution-prevention measures.
- Review reservoir and downstream water-quality monitoring programs and assess sediment removal, dredging and rehabilitation activities.
- Investigate environmental incidents, complaints, spills, exceedances and non-conformances.
- Coordinate sampling and laboratory testing, interpret monitoring results, and track corrective actions through verified closure.
- Develop environmental KPIs, analyze data trends and identify improvement opportunities.
Coordination and Reporting
- Coordinate environmental solutions with engineering, operations, maintenance, quality and HSE teams.
- Support environmental awareness programs, inductions, toolbox talks and specialist training.
- Liaise with regulators, government stakeholders, consultants, contractors and affected parties.
- Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, annual and technical reports and present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Attend meetings, inspections and site visits anywhere in Saudi Arabia as required.
- Comply with Saudi laws, applicable codes, client procedures, quality requirements and occupational health and safety obligations.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or an equivalent relevant discipline from a recognized university.
- Minimum 20 years of professional experience in environmental engineering and management.
- Direct experience preparing or reviewing environmental impact assessments and obtaining and maintaining environmental permits and approvals.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Saudi and applicable international environmental requirements.
- Experience with dams, water infrastructure, utilities, major civil works or comparable asset-intensive projects.
- Experience auditing contractors’ environmental compliance and technical submissions.
- Strong knowledge of water quality, pollution prevention, waste management, environmental monitoring and incident investigation.
- Ability to interpret environmental data, laboratory results and regulatory requirements.
- Experience preparing environmental plans, procedures, specifications and management reports.
- Strong technical reporting, analytical, communication and stakeholder-management capabilities.
- Relevant experience must be supported by verifiable employment records, project references, reports or studies when requested.
