About the Role

  • As an Engineering Manager, you will lead and inspire a team of talented engineers to build innovative SaaS and cloud based solutions for the airline and travel industry.
  • You will drive engineering excellence, foster a culture of innovation, and ensure successful delivery of high quality products aligned with IATA standards.
  • You will also play a key role in driving an AI enhanced engineering culture, helping teams leverage modern AI tools throughout the SDLC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of software engineers to deliver high quality SaaS and cloud based solutions.
  • Drive the technical direction, architecture, and implementation of projects aligned with IATA standards such as NDC, ARM, One Order, and IFG.
  • Work closely with Product Management, Design, Sales, and other stakeholders to define and execute product roadmaps.
  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, continuous learning, and technical excellence.
  • Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  • Implement coding, testing, security, and deployment best practices to ensure scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges, providing guidance and innovative solutions.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and AI powered engineering practices to drive innovation within the team.
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, priorities, and resource allocation effectively.
  • Promote a culture of high performance, accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive adoption of AI assisted software development practices across engineering teams.
  • Enable engineers to effectively leverage AI tools for software design, coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and knowledge sharing.

Technical Expertise

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in software development with proficiency in languages such as Java, Python, or similar.
  • Deep understanding of SaaS and cloud technologies, including experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Strong understanding of modern software architecture, distributed systems, APIs, and microservices.
  • Familiarity with modern software development methodologies such as Agile and Scrum.
  • Understanding of AI assisted software development practices and their application across the SDLC.
  • Experience evaluating and implementing developer productivity tools, engineering automation platforms, or AI powered development solutions is highly desirable.
  • Ability to balance development velocity with software quality, security, maintainability, and architectural integrity.

Industry Knowledge

  • Experience in the airline or travel industry with knowledge of distribution, pricing, sales, and servicing is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of IATA's New Distribution Capability (NDC), One Order, ARM, IFG, or related airline retailing standards is a strong advantage.

Leadership and Management

  • Proven ability to lead and manage engineering teams effectively.
  • Strong mentoring, coaching, and people development skills.
  • Experience in hiring, performance management, and career development.
  • Experience leading engineering teams through technology, process, or organizational transformation.
  • Ability to drive adoption of new technologies and modern engineering practices across teams.
  • Strong track record of improving engineering effectiveness through process optimization, automation, or developer enablement initiatives.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross functional teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
