TAL is seeking an Engineering Manager, AI and Emerging Technology, to lead responsible delivery of innovative AI solutions.
The role supports technology that improves services for customers, partners, and employees in a regulated life insurance environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead high-performing AI engineering teams delivering scalable and reliable solutions.
- Translate AI prototypes into production services with quality, monitoring, and operational discipline.
- Build an engaged engineering culture focused on growth, experimentation, collaboration, and improvement.
- Set standards for AI delivery, platform reuse, and engineering excellence.
- Embed responsible AI governance, risk management, and compliance into delivery.
- Align business, product, and technology stakeholders around AI outcomes.
Experience and technical requirements
- At least 8 years of software, AI, machine learning, or data engineering experience is required.
- At least 3 years of engineering team leadership experience is required.
- Strong generative AI, LLM-based systems, and MLOps or LLMOps knowledge is required.
- Data engineering, cloud platform, and modern software development experience is required.
- Clear technical communication and stakeholder collaboration are required.
- Understanding of privacy, security, AI governance, and regulated Australian financial services is required.
