Are you an electrical engineer who is ready to power the future of Texas?
LCRA is seeking a motivated Operations Engineering Associate to join our team supporting the reliable operation of the Texas electric grid!
In this role, you will support outage coordination, assist with power flow and contingency analysis, help maintain operational tools and dashboards, and build foundational knowledge of transmission operations under the mentorship of senior engineers.

- Conduct power system analysis to support the evaluation of planned outages for LCRA capital projects and maintenance.
- Support development and validation of power flow cases to be used for studies, including load scaling, incorporating weather models, voltage set point adjustments, etc.
- Review outage metrics and build dashboards that give operators, planners, and leadership a clear, real-time picture of operations performance.
- Learn and assist with the administration of LCRA's Outage Scheduler, including basic troubleshooting and improvement testing.
- Conduct resilience studies for storm and extreme-weather preparation, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending contingency plans.
- Innovate by improving study models, automating study tasks, and building new tools that compose how the grid is operated.
- Bachelors degree in engineering, engineering technology, engineering physics, biosystems engineering, mathematical science, physical science or related science.
- Driver's license
- Coursework or internship experience in power systems, power flow, or contingency analysis.
- Exposure to PSSE, PowerWorld, or TARA.
- Familiarity with Python and/or SQL, or strong curiosity about developing these skills.
- Interest in automation, data management, visualizations, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
- Working toward Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
