About the Role
DAR ENGINEERING is seeking a Protection Engineer in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to design control, protection, metering, and monitoring systems for LV/MV/HV/EHV substations. The role involves performing design analysis, calculations, and ensuring compliance with standards.

- Prepare Control, Protection, Metering and Monitoring systems design meeting quality and schedule requirements
- Adhere to established design guidelines and procedures
- Analyze design issues and recommend corrective actions
- Perform design analysis and calculations according to project requirements
- Determine construction cost and material estimates based on the designs
- Review project plan and determine the design feasibilities and constraints
- Use latest software and technologies to develop effective designs
- Maintain accurate design files for reference purposes
- Consider health, safety and environmental requirements when developing the designs
- Execute design projects within allotted timelines and MHs
- Stay abreast with the latest developments in relevant design fields
- Ensure compliance with QMS requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Protection Engineering with professional certifications/accreditations
- 3 5 years of experience in Electrical Design and analysis of T&D projects, preferably with exposure in the Gulf Region
- Good working knowledge on design of control, protection, metering, and monitoring systems for LV/MV/HV/EHV substations from base design, detail design through IFC stage
- Working knowledge on control, protection, metering, and monitoring systems pertaining to control & protection schemes, CT/PT calculations, relay setting calculations etc.
- Knowledge of SAS system, IED relays, IEC61850, and interface with SCADA and communication
- Familiar with relevant codes & standards – IEC, IEEE, BS, Regional Standards, SASO, SEC standards etc.
- Strong understanding and working knowledge of design software – ETAP, DIGSI, PCM600, MICOM AGILE, Envista, SEL, MS Excel, drafting tools, 3D platform and document management systems

Qualifications/Requirements

- Quick learner, adoptive to new environments and challenges, team player with extra skills in presentations and personal relations.
Key Accountability Areas
- Design & Development: Helps designers maintain a proactive attitude, display capability in research, design, innovation, and learning.
- Ensure that the design analysis and calculations are according to project requirements.
- Ensure compliance to QAQC standards in all aspects of project execution and workflow.
- Ensure smooth coordination with designers, interdisciplinary engineers, contractor, end client, partners, and suppliers.
- Supports Lead/Sr. Engineer in designing, detailing, scheduling, specifying, and preparing presentations, diagrams, 3D visuals, reports, and printing.
- Project Management: Supports Lead/Sr. Engineer in managing project deliverables of the assigned project in a way to ensure completion in a profitable manner.
- Ensure that design changes and improvements are according to changing project demands.
