Job Overview
- Emergency Medical Technician Basic responsible for pre hospital emergency care and ambulance operations.
Responsibilities
- Ensures personnel and vehicle readiness
- Responds to medical emergency calls and provides basic life support
- Evaluates illness/injury and determines course of action
- Provides medical aid including AED, CPR, ventilation, bleeding control
- Administers activated charcoal, oral glucose, oxygen
- Assesses patient enroute and administers additional care
- Maintains vehicles and medical equipment
- Restocks supplies and cleans equipment
- Assists EMT paramedics in advance life support
- Performs direct illness/injury assessment
- Maintains operational readiness of ambulance
- Works with communications, hospital, police, fire departments
Requirements
- Certification as EMT Basic
- Experience in emergency medical services
- Valid driver's license
- Knowledge of BLS, AED, CPR
