Role overview

The Electrical Technician maintains electrical equipment and systems to support safe, reliable, and uninterrupted plant operations.

The position covers troubleshooting, installation, inspection, testing, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and breakdown response.

Employment and schedule

  • The position is an FTC on-rolls role with a work visa.
  • Duty hours are eight hours per day, six days per week.
  • The work location is determined by project requirements.

Electrical maintenance

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on motors, panels, transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, and control circuits.
  • Troubleshoot low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical faults to minimize downtime.
  • Carry out routine inspections and identify potential reliability issues.

Installation and commissioning

  • Assist with installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems.
  • Ensure installations comply with approved drawings, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Support shutdown, turnaround, and maintenance activities.

Safety and compliance

  • Follow electrical safety procedures, lockout/tagout, and permit-to-work systems.
  • Comply with site safety rules, electrical codes, maintenance procedures, and HSE policies.
  • Use PPE properly and report unsafe conditions, near misses, and incidents.

Documentation and reporting

  • Record maintenance activities, inspections, and fault rectifications in maintenance logs or CMMS systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment condition and repair history.
  • Assist supervisors with maintenance reports and job completion records.

Coordination and teamwork

  • Coordinate with maintenance engineers, supervisors, and operations teams for planned and breakdown jobs.
  • Support other technicians and contractors during maintenance activities.
  • Respond promptly to emergency electrical breakdowns.

Experience and skills

  • At least five years of experience as an Electrical Technician is required.
  • Hands-on experience with motors, panels, switchgear, cable termination, and electrical testing equipment is required.
  • Experience in industrial, oil and gas, power plant, or petrochemical environments is preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical drawings, schematics, and preventive maintenance practices is required.
  • Strong troubleshooting, fault-finding, communication, teamwork, and independent working skills are required.
