1.1 Job Scope Summary
The EI&C Technician Team Leader is responsible for performing hands-on maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of instrumentation, electrical, and control systems.
The role combines strong technical expertise with supervisory and coordination responsibilities, including supervising and guiding junior EI&C technicians in daily maintenance activities and ensuring work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards and procedures.
The EI&C Technician Team Leader Technician also assists the Maintenance Manager in planning,
monitoring, coordinating, and reporting EI&C maintenance activities to support the safe, reliable, and
efficient operation of plant equipment and systems.
A.) Technical & Hands-On
- Performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of instrument application, operation, and the electrical and mechanical principles involved in repair, testing, and calibration
- Maintains alarms and automatic shutdown systems activated by one or more process variables
- Troubleshoots and analyzes PLC and DCS logic circuitry, along with pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Conducts installation, inspection, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of instrumentation and control systems (sensors, transmitters, analyzers, PLCs, HMIs, control valves, SCADA/DCS interfaces)
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on assigned I&C equipment
- Conduct daily plant inspections, walkdowns, and log operational anomalies
- Plans details of assigned jobs using sketches, blueprints, schematics, and complex drawings
- Consults with operations and technical groups on safety procedures and job hazards
- Calibrate valves, MOVs, transmitters, analyzers, and other field instrumentation
- Assist in testing and commissioning of new I&C equipment
- Maintain and update equipment documentation, including drawings, certificates, and procedures
B.) Supervisory & Coordination
- Provide guidance, mentoring, and technical support to junior I&C technicians
- Coordinate I&C work assignments under the direction of the Maintenance Manager
- Track, monitor, and report on maintenance activities, highlighting issues or delays
- Assist in supervising external technicians or contractors during maintenance activities
- Support planning and scheduling of preventive and corrective maintenance
- Assist the Maintenance Manager in spare parts management, procurement, and budget preparation
C.) Compliance, Safety & Reporting
- Ensure all I&C activities comply with HSE requirements, company procedures, and operational standards
- Record all maintenance work accurately in the CMMS or ERP system
- Conduct basic risk assessments and participate in plant safety meetings
- Prepare reports on plant performance, maintenance trends, and incidents
