Position Summary
The Doctor Compensation Analyst is responsible for calculating, validating, reconciling, and documenting doctor compensation in accordance with doctor employment agreements and amendments.
Reporting to the Director of Doctor Compensation, this role serves as the primary support resource for doctor compensation calculations and issue resolution. The analyst will spend most of their time performing production and collections based compensation calculations and reconciliations, researching compensation discrepancies, and supporting the payment request process.
Success in this role requires strong Excel skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work through complex compensation arrangements while maintaining accurate documentation.
Primary Responsibilities
Compensation Calculations (70-80%)
Prepare and maintain accurate and complete doctor compensation calculation workpapers and reconciliation files.
Calculate compensation earnings on a variety of models, including production, collections, salary plus incentive, guarantee, and other variable compensation arrangements.
Review compensation calculations for accuracy and compliance with approved contract terms.
Reconcile compensation calculations in a timely manner prior to payroll submission.
Review doctor earnings relative to contractual compensation models.
Validate source data from practice management systems, payroll reports, and other data inputs.
Prepare and maintain analyses to identify and investigate unusual earnings fluctuations or variances.
Maintain calculation templates and supporting schedules.
Compensation Issue Resolution (15-20%)
Research compensation questions submitted by doctors and across functions such as operations, payroll, and HR.
Investigate overpayment and underpayment situations.
Trace and synthesize historical calculations and compensation adjustments when discrepancies arise.
Compare current calculation methodologies to contract language and approved amendments.
Document findings and provide recommendations to the Director of Doctor Compensation.
Escalate unclear, conflicting, or undocumented compensation arrangements.
Administrative & Reporting Support (5-10%)
Maintain organized documentation supporting compensation processes and calculations.
Maintain contract compensation terms database.
Assist with preparation of compensation reconciliation statements and supporting schedules.
Support the payment request process by providing accurate compensation files and backup.
Track open compensation issues and resolution status.
Assist with ad hoc analysis related to doctor compensation.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Mathematics, or related field.
2+ years of experience in financial analysis, compensation administration, payroll, accounting, or related analytical role.
Advanced Excel skills including: XLOOKUP INDEX/MATCH Pivot Tables SUMIFS Data validation Error checking and reconciliation techniques

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with doctor compensation calculations.
Experience in healthcare, dental, physician, DSO, or MSO environments.
Experience supporting payroll or compensation reconciliation processes.
Familiarity with employment agreements and compensation schedules.

Accuracy of compensation calculations.
Timely completion of calculations for payroll deadlines.
Reduction in compensation-related corrections and recalculations.
Timely resolution of compensation discrepancies.
Quality and completeness of calculation and process documentation.
Successful completion of compensation reconciliations.
What This Role Does Not Own
This position does not :
Design compensation plans.
Approve compensation exceptions.
Draft employment contracts or amendments.
Make business decisions regarding doctor compensation.
Perform payroll processing.
Negotiate compensation arrangements with doctors.
This role's responsibility is to calculate, reconcile, validate, research, document, and escalate . Final compensation decisions remain with the Director of Doctor Compensation and other department leaders as appropriate
