About the Role
Mashreq Corporate & Investment Banking Group seeks a Director for Wholesale Islamic Banking to grow the Islamic corporate book, maximize market share, and originate wholesale transactions.

Responsibilities
- Grow existing Islamic corporate book inorganically (NTB) & organically (Existing corporate book) within CIBG & IBG
- Maximize market share & maintain competitive edge amongst all Islamic entities across the CIBG & IBG footprint
- Play an active & integral role in deal origination efforts and coordinating between client relationship team and product team(s) in mandate execution
- Maximize utilization of approved Islamic credit limits, by facilitating relationship team
- Responsible for credit risk assessment along with Relationship Managers, preparing Credit Proposals and liaising with Wholesale Risk Management and Compliance Unit
- Grow Islamic book by onboarding new to bank Islamic clients across CIBG & IBG
- Identify and close new opportunities within existing corporate book across the bank
- Focus on all cross sell opportunities for GTB/TCM/RBG emanating from wholesale transactions and relationships
- Ensure new business and transactions are proactively managed as per Shariah guidelines and bank's policies
- Develop strong working relations with all existing Islamic clients at the decision making level
- Maintain an active pipeline; focusing on 'new to bank' and 'existing client' transactions / business
- Work with all stakeholders of wholesale business groups to effectively implement 'Selling Islamic First' directives of the Shariah Supervisory Board
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of wholesale banking experience
- 5 years of Islamic banking experience is a must
- Experience in origination of wholesale transactions & deals (bilateral and syndications), and dynamics of such transactions in multiple geographies
- Bachelor's in business (BBA) required; MBA, CFA preferred
- Strong credit and marketing skills along with intuitive/judgment skills to evaluate risks beyond the obvious
- Strong interpersonal and communication ability

Key Responsibilities

- Maximize market share & maintain competitive edge amongst all Islamic entities across the CIBG & IBG footprint.
- Play an active & integral role in deal origination efforts and coordinating between client relationship team and product team(s) in the mandate execution.
- Maximize utilization of approved Islamic credit limits, by facilitating relationship team.
- Responsible for credit risk assessment along with the Relationship Managers (RMs), meeting the customers, preparing Credit Proposals (CPs) and liaising with Wholesale Risk Management (WRM) and the Compliance Unit.
- Grow Islamic book by onboarding new to bank Islamic clients across CIBG & IBG.
- Identify and close new opportunities within existing corporate book across the bank.
- Focus on all cross sell opportunities for GTB/TCM/RBG emanating from wholesale transactions and relationships.

Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of wholesale banking experience of which 5 Yrs of Islamic banking experience is a must.
- Must have experience in origination of wholesale transactions & deals (bilateral and syndications), and dynamics of such transactions in multiple geographies.
- Must possess bachelor's in business (BBA). However, MBA, CFA would be a preference.
- Strong credit and marketing skills along with intuitive / judgment skills to evaluate risks beyond the obvious.
