Job Description

  • The Medical Affairs Director provides medical and scientific leadership in glomerular diseases therapy area (IgAN) within GCC.
  • Works closely with cross functional group to ensure scientific and medical strategies are aligned with corporate and stakeholder needs.
  • Ensures flawless execution of country medical plans with primary focus on KSA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Critically interprets scientific data and determines potential impact of new research on scientific and medical understanding of assigned portfolio.
  • Shares country/regional insights with global teams to ensure global medical strategies reflect country/region needs.
  • Provides fair and balanced medical information and education to healthcare professionals and payers.
  • Fosters patient access to Vertex medications by supporting commercial organization in reimbursement dossiers.
  • Performs/oversees medical/scientific training for field medical teams, commercial, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Contributes to local Brand Team representing therapy area scientific and medical expertise.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies, medical affairs SOPs, GCP and ICH.
  • Assesses local promotional materials for scientific accuracy and fair balance.

Key Requirements

  • Strong understanding of Nephrology (Kidney disease).
  • Experience in writing or reviewing scientific communications.
  • Good understanding of the pharmaceutical industry International setting.
  • Ability to develop relationships in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Experience in designing, planning medical strategies and executing medical education and communication activities.
  • Strong understanding of statistical methods.
  • Ability to engage in positive dialogue and resolve conflicts constructively.
  • Leadership and significant people manager experience.

Education and Experience

  • Scientific background (e.g., Physician, PhD or PharmD).
  • Minimum 10 years of medical affairs experience in multinational pharmaceutical in KSA market.

Flex Designation

  • Hybrid Eligible or On Site Eligible.
  • Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or On Site: work five days per week on site with ad hoc flexibility.
