About the Role

  • The Director of Financial Planning and Modelling is responsible for leading the university’s financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis functions, providing accurate and strategic financial insights.

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Drive the formulation of the Department's strategy and annual business plans.
  • Develop the Department’s policies and procedures, adhering to overall business objectives.
  • Develop and manage the Department’s budgets and monitor performance.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain long range financial models supporting strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with departments to build and refine financial models.
  • Provide multi year financial projections, scenario analyses, and financial insights.
  • Participate in the annual budgeting process.
  • Build, update, and enhance complex financial models.
  • Conduct variance analyses to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
  • Generate comprehensive financial reports and dashboards.
  • Monitor and evaluate budget performance.
  • Analyze financial data to provide recommendations for resource allocation, cost optimization, and revenue generation.
  • Advise university leadership on financial viability of programs, partnerships, and investments.
  • Work with enrollment management, fundraising, and research departments to model revenues.
  • Oversee compliance with financial policies and reporting standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; Master’s degree (MBA, Master’s in Finance) or CPA/CMA designation preferred.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience directly related to the duties, with 5 years in a senior managerial position, preferably in higher education.
