Responsibilities
- Lead the university's financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis functions
- Develop and maintain long range financial models supporting strategic goals
- Provide multi year financial projections, scenario analyses, and financial insights for leadership decision making
- Participate in the annual budgeting process, coordinating with departments
- Build, update, and enhance complex financial models to analyze financial impact of key initiatives
- Conduct variance analyses to identify trends, opportunities, and risks
- Generate comprehensive financial reports and dashboards for executive leadership and Board of Trustees
- Monitor and evaluate budget performance, identifying cost savings
- Advise university leadership on financial viability of programs, partnerships, and investments
- Lead and mentor a team of financial analysts
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- Master's degree (MBA, Master's in Finance) or CPA/CMA designation preferred
- Minimum 12 years of experience directly related to the duties, with 5 years in a senior managerial position

About the Role
- The Director of Financial Planning and Modelling is responsible for leading the university’s financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis functions, providing accurate and strategic financial insights.
Strategic Responsibilities
- Drive the formulation of the Department's strategy and annual business plans.
- Develop the Department’s policies and procedures, adhering to overall business objectives.
- Develop and manage the Department’s budgets and monitor performance.
Operational Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain long range financial models supporting strategic goals.
- Collaborate with departments to build and refine financial models.
- Provide multi year financial projections, scenario analyses, and financial insights.
- Participate in the annual budgeting process.
- Build, update, and enhance complex financial models.
- Conduct variance analyses to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
- Generate comprehensive financial reports and dashboards.
- Monitor and evaluate budget performance.
- Analyze financial data to provide recommendations for resource allocation, cost optimization, and revenue generation.
- Advise university leadership on financial viability of programs, partnerships, and investments.
- Work with enrollment management, fundraising, and research departments to model revenues.
- Oversee compliance with financial policies and reporting standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; Master’s degree (MBA, Master’s in Finance) or CPA/CMA designation preferred.
- Minimum 12 years of experience directly related to the duties, with 5 years in a senior managerial position, preferably in higher education.
