Job purpose

Lead the strategic oversight and performance management of national federations across Olympic and Paralympic disciplines.

Ensure federation activities align with SOPC national priorities and Olympic movement standards.

Oversee federation strategic plans, capacity-building efforts, athlete development programmes, governance, and compliance.

Strategic leadership and alignment

  • Align national federation strategies with long-term objectives, performance targets, governance priorities, and developmental outcomes.
  • Guide federations through athlete-centred, results-driven, and internationally benchmarked strategic planning.
  • Advise SOPC leadership on federation development, national sport planning, policy input, and institutional collaboration.

Programme and athlete development

  • Oversee the strategic direction and effectiveness of athlete development pathways implemented by national federations.
  • Ensure alignment with high-performance and talent-identification goals.
  • Coordinate federations with SOPC and international federations across training, competitions, and elite transitions.
  • Evaluate programme impact on athlete outcomes and provide input to improve sustainability and long-term success.

Performance and governance

  • Lead an integrated federation performance monitoring system with KPIs, benchmarking, and continuous review protocols.
  • Identify capacity gaps and drive improvements in governance, compliance, and operational maturity.
  • Support standardised governance tools, reporting templates, and accountability frameworks.

Stakeholder engagement

  • Act as the strategic interface between SOPC and national federations, maintaining institutional relationships and two-way communication.
  • Represent SOPC in multi-federation forums, regional working groups, and international development collaborations.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and resource guidance to federation leaders.

Cross-functional integration and reporting

  • Work with Legal, Finance, Technical Advisory, and PMO teams to ensure federation initiatives are compliant, resourced, and on track.
  • Consolidate and present federation performance reports and strategic insights to SOPC senior leadership.
  • Recommend adjustments to federation strategy based on field intelligence and sport-specific trends.
