Director, Ads & MarTech Engineering

Ads Engineering creates platforms, services, APIs, and experiences for sellers that drive advertising on eBay. The team covers campaign and advertising workflows, dashboards and reporting, public APIs, selling flows, and foundational systems that enable sellers and advertisers to grow their enterprises.

MarTech Engineering develops the platforms and capabilities that drive customer marketing and lifecycle engagement throughout eBay. The team concentrates on customer marketing platforms, performance marketing, marketing implementation systems, and the technological foundations that support personalized, measurable, and scalable customer engagement.

The Ads Engineering and MarTech Engineering teams build extensive products, platforms, and workflows that support sellers in growing their businesses. They help advertisers meet clear objectives and guide customers to the right inventory when needed. Their work spans frontend applications, backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and current engineering techniques. These teams collaborate with Product, Development, Analytics, Applied Science, and program leadership.

As Director, Ads & MarTech Engineering, you will lead a Bengaluru engineering unit focused on building and improving vital Ads and MarTech products and platforms. You will manage organizational configuration, technical execution, quality management, leadership development, and collaborative project delivery. The ideal candidate is a leader with strong engineering expertise who can grow teams, coach leaders, and convert business priorities into durable technological strategies.

Lead and scale a high-performing Bengaluru-based software engineering organization, including managers and engineers, with clear accountability for delivery, quality, team health, and organizational efficiency.

Define and finalize the engineering strategy and multi-quarter roadmap for your area, aligning technology investments with product priorities and business outcomes across Ads and MarTech.

Build the operating cadence, execution clarity, and decision-making mechanisms that enable teams to deliver complex initiatives predictably across build, development, testing, release, observability, and production support.

Collaborate closely with Product, Program Management, Build, Analytics, Applied Science, and global Engineering leaders to align priorities, resolve dependencies, and deliver measurable customer and business impact.

Improve engineering excellence by driving scalable architecture, reliability, security, maintainability, and developer efficiency across the organization.

Hire, mentor, and develop engineering managers and senior engineers. Build a strong leadership bench and an inclusive culture. This culture helps teams do their best work and grow their careers.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical area, or equivalent practical experience.

Over 15 years of experience leading software engineering teams in either enterprise or consumer software environments. You have guided senior individual contributors and/or managers within complex organizations.

Demonstrated experience leading several software engineering groups via managers, responsible for strategy, implementation, talent growth, and organizational results.

Strong technical depth in large-scale distributed systems, platform architecture, and modern software development practices, with good judgment across speed, quality, reliability, and scale trade-offs.

Demonstrated ability to translate business priorities into engineering strategy, roadmaps, team structures, and action plans that deliver measurable results.

Track record of attracting, retaining, and developing high-performing engineering talent, including organizational build, succession planning, manager mentoring, and performance leadership.

Experience driving multi-functional and cross-organizational alignment across Product, Engineering, Build, Analytics, and other partner teams in complex, fast paced environments.

Excellent communication and leadership presence, with the ability to influence senior collaborators, build clarity across global teams, and represent the Bengaluru organization effectively across time zones.
