Design Director

The Design Director at Sté Internationale des Mines et Transport (SIMT) is a part-time, remote role responsible for overseeing design initiatives across branding, architecture, and product design.

The role includes leading conceptual development, guiding design teams, and ensuring alignment with SIMT’s strategic goals and visual identity.

Day-to-day tasks involve reviewing and approving design proposals, coordinating with cross-functional partners, and providing clear direction on construction drawings and technical documentation.

The Design Director will also manage project timelines, maintain quality standards, and contribute to long-term design strategy and innovation within the organization.

• Strong design leadership and organizational abilities, including Design Management skills to guide projects and teams effectively.
• Branding expertise to shape and maintain a consistent visual identity across digital, physical, and communication touchpoints.
• Architecture and Construction Drawings skills to oversee spatial design concepts and ensure technical accuracy of design documents.
• Product Design experience to direct the end-to-end design process for industrial or commercial products, from concept to implementation.
• Proficiency in relevant design and documentation tools (e.g., CAD software, Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent), plus familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote, part-time setting.
• Proven track record in a senior design or creative leadership role; experience in industrial, transportation, or mining-related sectors is an advantage.
• Relevant academic background in Design, Architecture, Industrial Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
