Responsibilities

  • Prepare special meals or substitute items
  • Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters
  • Thaw frozen food in refrigerator
  • Ensure proper portion, presentation, and garnish
  • Maintain food logs
  • Monitor quality and quantity of food prepared
  • Inform chef of surplus items for daily specials
  • Inform service staff of menu changes and specials
  • Prepare and cook food according to recipes and standards
  • Prepare cold foods
  • Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, motivating, and coaching employees
  • Follow safety policies and report maintenance needs, accidents, or hazards

Recommended Qualifications

  • Education: Diploma from a technical, trade, or vocational school
  • Related work experience: At least 3 years
  • Supervisory experience: None
  • License or certification: None
