Your role will include but not be limited to

  • Prepare, cook, and present food items in accordance with standard recipes, portion control, and presentation guidelines.
  • Assist the Chef de Partie in managing the daily operations of the assigned kitchen section.
  • Ensure food is prepared and served to the highest quality standards and within established timelines.
  • Supervise, guide, and support Commis Chefs and kitchen attendants to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to standards.
  • Monitor food quality, freshness, and consistency throughout the preparation and service process.
  • Maintain adequate stock levels within the assigned section and communicate purchasing requirements to the Chef de Partie.
  • Ensure proper food storage, stock rotation (FIFO), and labeling in accordance with food safety standards.
  • Minimize food waste through effective planning, portion control, and proper handling of ingredients.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, kitchen equipment, and storage areas.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and health and safety regulations.
  • Assist with receiving, checking, and storing food deliveries according to company procedures.
  • Support inventory counts and stock control activities as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience in a commis chef within a hotel or restaurant setting.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Passionate about food and cooking with a keen interest in learning.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively.
