About the Role
The HYCO DCS Operator is responsible for safe and efficient operation of a Hydrogen Manufacturing Unit using DCS in a centralized control room. The role involves monitoring process variables, executing start-up sequences, and coordinating with field operators and maintenance teams.

Responsibilities
- Operate the Steam Methane Reformer based hydrogen plant with CO2 removal, CO2 compression, PSA, membrane unit, and utilities via DCS
- Monitor and control process variables (flows, temperatures, pressures, levels, analytical values) to ensure safe and stable operation
- Execute start up sequences for the entire plant or individual units from cold, warm, or hot standby conditions
- Prepare and implement safety work permits, LOTO, and assist maintenance teams with corrective maintenance
- Maintain communication with field operators, providing instructions for equipment adjustments and isolations
- Conduct shift handovers, maintaining accurate logs of operating parameters and production data
- Identify root causes of process deviations and equipment malfunctions, and work with engineers on solutions
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits, safety procedures, and process safety requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, or chemical process operations preferred; associate technical degree considered with experience
- Minimum 5 years of lead DCS operations experience
- Experience in SMR based hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, or syngas plant as DCS operator
- Proficiency with DCS platforms (e.g., Yokogawa Centum VP, Siemens PCS 7)
- Deep understanding of chemical engineering principles, thermodynamics, and process control
- Strong problem solving and diagnostic abilities
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication in English

Job Description
- The HYCO DCS Operator reports to the HYCO Lead/Shift Supervisor and is accountable for day to day DCS and field operation of the HYCO facility.
- Responsible for safe, efficient, and stable operation of the entire Hydrogen Manufacturing Unit from a centralized control room using DCS.
Principal Accountabilities
- Maintain a safe and stable environment; enforce safe work permits and LOTO procedures.
- Be first line of response for process emergencies; execute emergency operating procedures.
- Monitor SIS and Fire & Gas Systems; ensure compliance with environmental permits.
- Operate the Steam Methane Reformer based hydrogen plant with CO2 removal, compression, PSA, membrane unit, and utilities.
- Report production progress to Shift Supervisor; manage plant production efficiently.
- Meet customer requirements for safety, reliability, product quality, and flexibility.
- Monitor all process variables via DCS; manipulate control loops and setpoints.
- Use historical data to predict equipment performance degradation and prevent trips.
- Execute and supervise start up sequences for the plant or individual units.
- Maintain communication with field operators and coordinate with maintenance team.
- Conduct shift handovers and maintain accurate logs.
- Identify root cause of process deviations and equipment malfunctions.
Skills
