About the Role
GE Vernova is looking for a DCS Field Service Engineer to handle substation automation systems for projects in UAE and Oman. The role involves site surveys, engineering, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of DCS/SCS systems.

Responsibilities
- Prepare Signal List from Schematics and other applicable documents
- Prepare Interlocking documents from Main PLD
- Responsible for Field Services activity of Substation Automation Systems including DCS/SCS, RTU and Cyber security
- Take complete ownership of technical activities for assigned projects (EHS coordination, Site Survey, Engineering, Design, Follow Up, Support Panels Integration, Pre FAT Internal Validation, FAT with customer, Supervise Site installations, Conduct Site Testing and commissioning, Site Red mark up and As Built Drawings, system troubleshooting and rectification)
- Perform, coordinate, and record tests for digital inputs, controls, measurements, interlocks, IEC61850 IEDs and SCADA signals
- Perform, coordinate, and record tests for SCS/CS complex functionalities and NCC/DCC with standard protocols
- Inform and report on time to the SCS Engineer in charge
- Prepare As Built documentation for SCS documents (consoles, data lists, IP address plans, connectivity drawings)
- Create backups for PCs, switches, GPS equipment & other DCS equipment installed at the site
- Lead the design of Substation LAN networks, configuration of industrial computers, ethernet switches, Firewall routers and satellite clocks according to project design
- Lead the installation of SCS system at the site (Fiber optic layout, PC installation at panels, SCS consoles wiring, CS installation, and testing)
- Prepare and install labels for Fiber optics and Ethernet cables
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electronic/electrical engineering or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in DCS, SCS, DS Agile, PACiS, GPG, G500 and D2xx RTUs solutions
- Minimum of 3 years of working experience in high voltage substation control system for engineering and field activities
- Strong knowledge in integration of protection main relays and busbar with DCS/SCS systems
- Ability to understand and implement technical drawings (wiring diagram, P&ID, General Arrangement)
- Knowledge of sequencing & interlocking principles used in substation automation systems and their implementation on IEC61850 IEDs
- Knowledge of Cyber security solutions implementation in the field of Substation Automation
- Strong communication skills in English
- This role requires 100% travel across the region

Job Description Summary
- Field Service Engineer is responsible for handling all DCS/CS activities in the field for all GE Vernova Grid Automation projects, including on shore, off shore, in UAE and to support Oman.
- The Field Service Engineer will closely coordinate the activities with DCS Engineering & Field Service team, Project management, Application and After Sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Shall be capable of preparing Signal List from Schematics and other applicable documents.
- Shall have sufficient knowledge to prepare Interlocking documents from Main PLD.
- Responsible for the Field Services activity of the Substation Automation Systems including DCS/SCS, RTU and Cyber security.
- Take the complete ownership of technical activities for assigned projects (EHS coordination and follow up, Site Survey, Engineering, Design, Follow Up and Support Panels Integration, Pre FAT Internal Validation, FAT with customer, Supervise Site installations, Conduct Site Testing and commissioning,

- Demonstrate good communication and writing skills, with experience in preparing and presenting reports to multiple persons.

- Lead the installation of the SCS system at the site (Fiber optic layout, PC installation at panels, SCS consoles wiring, CS installation, and testing).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electronic/electrical engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in DCS (Distributed Control System), SCS (Substation Control System), Experienced in DS Agile, PACiS, GPG, G500 and D2xx RTUs solutions, etc.
- Minimum of 3 years of working experience in high voltage substation control system for engineering and field activities.
- Strong knowledge in integration the protection main relays and busbar with DCS/SCS systems.
- Ability to understand and implement technical drawings (wiring diagram, P&ID, General Arrangement, etc…).
- Knowledge of Sequencing & interlocking principles used in substation automation systems and their implementation on IEC61850 IED’s.
- Knowledge of Cyber security solutions implementation in the field of Substation Automation.

- This role requires 100% travel across the region.
Desired Characteristics
- PMP certification is an advantage but not compulsory.
- Fluency in Arabic is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge in Conventional Control System (CCS) and cyber security system implementation and design activities.
- Strong knowledge in field devices, instruments and CCS systems.
- Knowledge of schemes and application of protection relays in electrical networks including HV & EHV systems.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to read / interpret tender / contract documentation, schematics, procedures, and policy guidelines.
- Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to define problems, collect relevant data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to work on multiple tasks to meet strict deadlines, work under pressure, take ownership of onsite activities.
- Experience of managing projects for protection and control systems is a distinct advantage.
- Willing to travel, in country and worldwide, and to work over time.
