Role Overview

Manage, maintain, secure, and optimize enterprise Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments.

Own database administration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, high availability, troubleshooting, reliability, and security.

Work Arrangement

  • The role is based in Jeddah with a hybrid work arrangement.
  • The contract is long-term.
  • The stated notice period is immediate to 15 days.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server environments.
  • Administer development, testing, UAT, and production databases.
  • Monitor database health, availability, capacity, and performance.
  • Tune SQL queries and database performance, including execution plans, indexing, and resource utilization.
  • Manage backups, restores, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.
  • Manage users, roles, privileges, authentication, access controls, encryption, and auditing.
  • Troubleshoot incidents, connectivity issues, performance problems, and production failures.
  • Maintain database jobs, scripts, automation, cloning, refreshes, documentation, and recovery plans.
  • Support application teams and collaborate with infrastructure, security, and DevOps teams.
  • Participate in 24x7 production support and on-call activities when required.

Oracle Skills

  • Oracle Database 11g, 12c, 18c, 19c, and 21c.
  • Oracle RAC and Data Guard.
  • RMAN backup and recovery.
  • Oracle performance tuning, SQL, PL/SQL, ASM, and Oracle Enterprise Manager.
  • Oracle database patching, upgrades, migration, and troubleshooting.

Microsoft SQL Server Skills

  • SQL Server 2016, 2019, and 2022.
  • T-SQL and SQL Server Management Studio.
  • SQL Server Agent and Always On Availability Groups.
  • Backup and restore, maintenance, performance tuning, index and query optimization.
  • Replication and log shipping.

Additional Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows Server environments.
  • Experience with shell or PowerShell scripting and database automation.
  • Understanding of Azure SQL, Azure Database for Oracle, AWS RDS, or equivalent platforms is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of ITIL, incident management, change management, and problem management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of database administration experience.
  • Experience supporting large-scale, high-availability production environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
