Role Overview
MegaNexus, an NEC company, develops software supporting vulnerable people and frontline services across prisons and NHS trusts.
The Database Administrator will support reliable, secure, and high-performing database environments.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL database environments.
- Ensure database availability, performance, reliability, and security.
- Tune queries, indexes, stored procedures, and database objects to improve application performance.
- Troubleshoot incidents and support application and development teams with database issues.
- Manage users, roles, permissions, and access requests.
- Maintain database security standards and compliance requirements.
- Resolve blocking, long-running queries, and locking issues.
- Participate in Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes.
Required Technical Skills
- B.Tech, MCA, or an equivalent qualification.
- 3–5 years of hands-on database administration experience.
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
- Strong knowledge of SQL, T-SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, query tuning, database objects, indexes, security, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
