The Role

Morningstar DBRS is seeking a Data Research Analyst to join the Data Management team.

The role supports Structured Finance security mappings and enterprise data initiatives.

The position ensures the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of critical ratings and regulatory datasets.

The role provides exposure to fixed income data, AI, and data governance functions while collaborating with global Data, Credit Operations, and Technology stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Structured Finance security mappings and ensure identifier accuracy and completeness.
  • Execute daily data quality controls across production datasets, including pre-publication validations and external-source reconciliations.
  • Contribute to data governance and AI-ready initiatives, including metadata, data dictionaries, and data lineage.
  • Investigate, resolve, and document data issues with internal stakeholders.
  • Support regulatory and reporting processes through data quality checks aligned to regulatory standards.
  • Reconcile regulatory datasets and reporting outputs to ensure consistency and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Data Science, or Management Studies.
  • 1–3 years of experience in data governance, data operations, analytics, or financial services.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with time-sensitive, high-quality data.
  • Ability to analyze, reconcile, and validate datasets from multiple sources.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; database or SQL experience is an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience related to Structured Finance, credit ratings, or capital markets data is preferred.
  • Experience with data governance, metadata, or data quality frameworks is preferred.
  • Experience working with AI initiatives and projects is preferred.

Compensation

  • Base salary compensation range is $47,476.00–$69,634.66.
  • The incentive target percentage is 7.5% annually.

Workplace

  • Morningstar uses a hybrid work environment with in-person collaboration each week.
  • In most locations, the hybrid model includes four days in-office each week.
