Responsibilities
- Lead or assist with operations such as hiking, inflatable boat tours, kayak, snorkel, and cultural tours
- Offer relevant and engaging in the field and on board interpretation to guests
- Prepare and deliver PowerPoint presentations of 30 40 minutes
- Participate in evening recaps to highlight guests’ daily experiences
- Respond to on board and in the field requests in a timely manner
- Mitigate guest concerns and complaints
- Accompany guests ashore with local guides and monitor quality control
- Eat meals with guests and engage in conversation
- Assist with on board duties such as monitoring wildlife, cleaning gear, and delivering communications
- Provide guest briefings on operations and locations with cultural sensitivity
Requirements
- CPR & First Aid Certified
- Bachelor’s degree or four years of work experience in related industry
- Full mobility and ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- In depth knowledge of Canadian Arctic destination
- Previous experience guiding or working in destination
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks with attention to detail
- Experience driving vessels with outboard engines (strongly preferred)
- Merchant Mariner Credential or equivalent (strongly preferred)

Who We Are
- Lindblad Expeditions is a pioneer in Expedition Travel, taking nearly 30,000 guests a year to remote locations on a fleet of 20 ships.
Summary
- This position supports the expedition as the expert in past and/or present human culture for specific regions.
- The role involves creating presentations, leading off ship activities, providing in field interpretation, and assisting with Field Staff equipment.
Specific Expertise – Eligibility for Contract
- Focus on experience in the field in the Canadian Arctic, with strong preference for someone from the Canadian Arctic.
- Canadian Arctic subject matter expertise in natural history and culture preferred.
- Ability to communicate the cultural story of the Canadian Arctic to guests.
- Creatively engages with guests and shares knowledge.
Essential Duties
- Lead or assist with operations such as hiking, inflatable boat tours, kayak, stand up paddleboard, snorkel, cross country ski, snowshoe, coach tours, cultural/culinary/historical tours.
- Offer relevant and engaging in the field and on board interpretation.
- Participate in evening recaps.
- Prepare several PowerPoint presentations of 30 40 minutes.
- Respond to on board and in the field requests in a timely manner.
- Mitigate guest concerns and complaints.
- Accompany guests ashore with local guides and monitor quality control.
- Eat meals with guests.
- Participate in on board duties such as monitoring wildlife, cleaning gear, delivering communications, creating educational materials.
- Participate in physically demanding settings including operating inflatable boats, hiking over uneven terrain, managing snorkel activities, leading kayak excursions.
- Provide guest briefings on operations and locations with cultural sensitivity.
Eligibility for Contract
- CPR & First Aid Certified (higher level preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree or four years of work experience in related industry.
- Full mobility of all limbs and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- In depth knowledge of destination and previous experience guiding or working in destination.
- Team player with excellent training skills and proven educator.
- Works well independently and is a self starter.
- Strong communicator, even tempered, remains calm under pressure.
- Must handle multiple tasks with keen attention to detail.
- General comfort with public speaking.
- Excellent problem solving skills and good judgment.
- Strongly preferred: Experience driving vessels with outboard engines.
- Strongly preferred: Merchant Mariner Credential of 25 tons or greater, RYA certificate, or equivalent.
Required For Contract
- Become familiar with company philosophy and programs offered by National Geographic Lindblad Expeditions.
- Become familiar with conservation and sustainability programs.
- Be prepared to assist with inflatable boat operations.
- Participate in on board safety training, meetings and drills.
Communication Skills
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend policies, legal guidelines, correspondence, and memos in English.
- Ability to effectively communicate in writing and orally with a professional demeanor.
Physical Demands
- Frequently required to sit, talk, and hear.
- Required to write and type.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
Compensation Statement
- Daily rate for this contract position: $330/daily.
- Travel expenses paid.
